What is wedding insurance
What is wedding insurance?
Wedding event insurance, aka special event insurance or one day event insurance, is a type of liability insurance that safeguards you against the unexpected on your wedding day. A wedding insurance policy covers you financially if your attendees are found responsible for any property damages, if you are sued for any injuries or accidents, and may provide medical coverage if bodily injury is sustained by any guests. We provide event liability insurance for all your engagement and wedding-related gatherings, so you can bundle your rehearsal, reception, and any other parties leading up to your wedding day in one policy. A certificate of the wedding liability insurance is now frequently required by venues and is crucial in securing your venue.
Why should I purchase wedding insurance for my wedding?
Despite the exciting prospect of celebrating your commitment with your loved ones, planning a wedding can be taxing. The wedding venue, caterer, photographer, and band can amount to a hefty bill and take time to book. These investments in your dream day deserve to be protected from the unpredictable. One Day Event insurance is able to provide that financial security. We can cover all the vendors you handpicked to make your day special, add the host liquor liability for wedding’s at no cost, at and provide you an affordable wedding insurance policy that meets all your venue’s requirements. Our coverage protects you from any lawsuits that you may be liable for as a result of injuries or damages that occurred at your wedding-related events. Event liability coverage is a savvy investment to ensure that your sole responsibility is to enjoy your wedding, despite the bumps along the way.
Do I need liquor liability insurance for weddings if alcohol is served?
In addition to special event insurance, most venues require host liquor liability insurance for weddings added onto your policy to account for alcohol-related incidents. If alcohol is being served at the wedding or brought to the wedding, the host is held accountable for any damages caused to or by intoxicated guests. If an alcohol-fueled fight results in injury, a lawsuit is filed due to a car accident caused by alcohol-induced reckless driving, or an intoxicated attendee damages the rented venue, your host liquor liability insurance will cover the costs. If alcohol is being sold at the event, or your bartender needs to purchase insurance, then you would need to purchase a separate liquor liability policy.
What other event insurance coverages may I need?
Standard special event insurance required by wedding venues will cover you for property damages, lawsuits, and injury to attendees, but you can also bundle additional coverages to create the policy best suited for your needs. You may choose to cover any or all vendors that you booked, including (but not limited to) caterers, florists, photographers, and DJs. Most venues require these vendors to have event liability insurance, so by selecting this add-on you ensure that everyone involved in your wedding day has the same quality coverage as you. You should also include host liquor liability if there will be any alcohol served or brought, as mentioned above to account for any alcohol-related incidents. In addition to protecting your wedding day itself, you may choose to bundle additional coverages for your rehearsal dinner or any wedding-related parties. How does wedding event insurance work?
Depending on the policy you select, you will have a specific coverage limit – the maximum dollar amount your insurance company will pay for a claim. Typically, the general coverage requirement for venues is $1 million per occurrence / $2 million aggregate. This means that for each individual claim filed against you, your insurance pays up to $1 million, and covers up to $2 million dollars for all total claims combined. If, for instance, a candle on your centerpiece is knocked over and causes fire damage amounting to $50,000, you are completely covered for that cost because it is below your $1 million limit per occurrence. The $50,000 would be deducted from your $2 million aggregate limit. If you had several claims filed against you for additional damages or injuries caused by that fire, you would be covered for up to $1 million for each individual claim, but each claim would continue to deduct from your $2 million aggregate limit. At One Day Event Insurance, we make it easy to increase this limit for a low price, so that you can rest at ease knowing that all potential damages are covered by your insurance.
When should I purchase wedding event insurance?
While you can purchase special event insurance up until an hour before your wedding, it is beneficial to buy it as soon as you book your date and venue. If you purchase your insurance well in advance of the wedding, you may have certain benefits if the venue cancels or a problem occurs that causes a postponement. Plus, rates and coverage requirements may change, so it is always wise to purchase earlier rather than later to help secure your venue without any complications. For example, certain venues require you to get your Certificate of Insurance, aka your COI, up to 30 days in advance. Once you purchase your event insurance policy with One Day Event, we send you and your venue the Certificate of Insurance. So, get the most value out of your investment, and purchase your wedding insurance early.
